The National Security Archive’s holdings include numerous generous donations of declassified documents from scholars, authors, and journalists, as well as the results of 35+ years of Freedom of Information Act requests. A growing number of these materials are published or posted online every year.
We strongly urge researchers to begin by consulting our published collections, including on our Web site. (See links to the right.) The vast majority of people are able to locate what they need in this way. If necessary, researchers may contact the Archive to find out what other relevant materials are in our unpublished holdings. Please keep in mind that we do not have the staff to provide research services beyond identifying the existence of records in our collections.
[Note: Unless otherwise indicated, all declassified U.S. government records on this site are freely available to the public. For details about reprinting or citing original content, please see Terms and Conditions .]
