Dr. Gregory F. Domber is a scholar of international history and U.S.-East European relations during the Cold War. He worked as a research assistant at the National Security Archive on the Soviet Flashpoints Project from 1998 to 2003 and received a PhD in History from The George Washington University in 2008. He was a Hewlett Post-Doctoral Fellow at Stanford University’s Center on Democracy, Development, and the Rule of Law and then an Associate Professor of History at the University of North Florida before moving to teach at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. Since August 2022 he has been a Senior Fulbright Scholar based in Krakow, Poland. He is the author of Empowering Revolution: America, Poland, and the End of the Cold War (UNC Press, 2014) as well as numerous articles and chapters on, primarily, U.S.-Polish relations. His current project utilizes digital humanities techniques to better understand the influences of American exchange programs (from the 1950s to the 1980s) on Poland’s negotiated revolution in 1989.
