October 9 — 13 1971 The list of Working Group menbers taking part 4s attached The Joint ‘orking Group exanined biomedical data and results of manned flight programs and exchanged oral and written reports on the Soyus and Apollo programs The Joint Horking Group gave special consideration to the following aspects of the blonedical results of manned space flight —— Cardiovascular syston —— Metabolisn —— Water—electrolyte exchange —— Statokinotic apperatus« —— Performance —— Vestibular apparatus —— Biological research The Joint forking Group developed the following recommendations for expanded and more regular exchange of space biomedical data in order to make maxtmm contributions to the safety and efficiency of manned space flight and to general medical knowledge 1 The Joint Working Group recommends that the exchange of data on manned space flights provided for in the MASA USSR Academy Summary of Results of January 21 1971 should include a serfes of meetings hold as a rule at least once a year Brchanges at those meetings should include in addition to pre and postflight data sufficiently detailed in—flight data to assure a full understanding of the flight Approved environmental peranoters and results of biologtoal experiments that may have been carried out on these flights Reports should be submitted in written form if possible 30 days before the meeting ant should contain date in a format covering body system analyses in detail Questions on such reports should be considered during the course of the meeting If either perty had not flom a manned mtoson in the porfod since the last meeting it should report in the sane format its continuing analysis of the results of previous flights or directly related research« Tt should be understood that each party my designate questions on the report of the other which 1t wishes to be addressed in writing within stxty days following the nooting« 2 The Joint Working Group recomnents that in addition to the
